I love the fact that artist's today feel like they can reach a crowd that isn't exactly in the Christian community. I feel very strongly about meeting people where they are with the needs that they have. We now are more aware of allowing lyrics to reach way beyond the church. I think that is amazing. My fear about that is that our meaning gets lost in lyrics that might sound like we are singing about our boyfriend or girlfriend when we are trying to speak about the Lord.
But I digress because this blog isn't about what is right or wrong. It's about Christian Music and the new and amazing talent that is out there right now. I feel like some of the greatest acts around are Christians. Talk about having meaning behind what they are singing. Wow. You don't get much closer than right there. These people sing about the thing that gives them life and breath. Powerful. Wonderful. Truthful stuff!
Have you heard of the Black Eyed Peas? Yes I know you have. So have you heard of Group 1 Crew? Well you should have. They have a great sound like Black Eyed Peas with a beat equally as fun to dance to. And these guys have a got MAJOR heart! They know what they are singing about and make no if's, and's or but's about it. They worship the Lord through raps, beats and just pure hip hop. I could listen to their self titled album ALL DAY LONG! I'm not kidding. It makes me nod my head and tap my feet!
Their songs have been on a few TV shows. Including Run's House and One Tree Hill.
CHECK THEM OUT and dance!
You can also see them at www.myspace.com/groupone or www.group1crew.com
and they have some great music videos at www.youtube.com/group1crew
If you are a runner you HAVE to get "Let It Roll" and put it on your iPod. You'll have no problem running through that song.
More later .....
